Black Fire Doors

Products: 28

Black fire doors suit homes with black window frames or black kitchen units, and they work in hallways and home offices as well as front entrances. Every black fire door in this range holds an FD30 rating, tested as a complete doorset rather than a plain black-painted panel.

A black door shows fingerprints and dust more than white or grey. That’s physics: dark surfaces show marks that lighter ones hide. Wipe it down with a soft cloth and it stays sharp; leave it and you’ll notice.

Black Fire Door Hardware

Handles matter more on black doors than on any other finish, because there’s no pattern or grain to distract the eye. Matt black hardware disappears into the door; brushed brass creates contrast instead.

Whichever you choose, make sure the hardware is fire-rated as well as black. A handle or hinge that isn’t tested for fire doors can invalidate the door’s certification, whatever colour it is. Our fire rated hinges are tested for exactly this.

Black Fire Door Styles

Most of our black fire doors, including Vancouver and Montreal, come fully finished in laminate, ready to hang straight from the box. If you’d rather paint to match a specific shade, Arnhem and Antwerp are supplied primed.

For something with more depth than flat black, our Brushed Black Oak doors, Seville and Ely, keep real timber grain visible under a dark stain, closer to charcoal wood than pure black. Knightsbridge and Antwerp both feature in our guide to stylish fire doors for UK homes.

Windsor and Sandringham are also available glazed, with clear glass panels for hallways where you want light to pass through.

An FD30 doorset, the door, frame and seals together, holds back fire and smoke for thirty minutes. That covers what most UK homes need for flat entrances and stairwells.

This range is FD30 only. If your building needs 60-minute protection, see our FD60 fire doors; for how the two ratings compare, read our FD30 vs FD60 guide.

Common Questions

Do black fire doors come factory finished?

Every door in this range is finished at the factory, either fully finished in black laminate or primed for you to paint. Painting a fire door yourself risks covering the intumescent seal, so a factory finish is the safer route if you want black from day one.

Which fire rating do these doors have?

All black fire doors in this range are FD30, the rating most UK homes need. We don’t stock FD60 in black; if your building needs sixty-minute protection, our FD60 fire doors come in other finishes.

Can I get a black fire door with glass?

Yes. Windsor and Sandringham both come with clear glazed panels in this range, alongside the solid styles. The full glazed fire doors range covers other colours too.

Each door carries independent fire testing and a 10-year manufacturer’s guarantee against faults. We calculate delivery at checkout based on your postcode, since cost varies by size and location.

If the opening doesn’t need a fire rating, our black internal doors give you the same finishes without the certified core.
