Walnut Internal Doors
Our walnut internal doors come pre-finished in a deep brown timber tone, ready to hang once they're trimmed. Most are Deanta designs with a real walnut veneer over a solid core, joined by two from LPD: the Tres in veneer and the Vancouver in laminate. Every design comes as a solid door and several also come glazed, so that's the main decision. Doors are 35mm thick, with 40mm metric sizes on the Seville. For a landing or loft conversion that needs FD30, most of these designs also come as walnut fire doors.

Why choose walnut internal doors?
Internal walnut doors sit between oak and black. They’re darker and richer than oak and warmer than our grey doors, with a visible grain, but still reads clearly as timber, so they give a room contrast without the hard edge of a painted black door.
Among dark wood internal doors, walnut is the one that works best against white or pale grey walls, where the brown tone stands out. It also suits contemporary homes with plenty of glass and steel, and period houses where dark timber was the norm.
If walnut feels too warm for your scheme, our black internal doors give a cooler contrast.
Solid and glazed walnut internal doors
Each Deanta design comes as a solid door, and most also come glazed, so you can keep one look through the house and add glass only where you need light.
| Design | Solid version | Glazed version | Glass |
|---|---|---|---|
| Deanta Seville | Yes | 1 Lite | Clear toughened |
| Deanta Coventry | Yes | Glazed and 4 Lite | Clear toughened; obscure on the 4 Lite |
| Deanta Kensington | Yes | 6 Lite | Clear bevelled |
| Deanta Valencia | Yes | 4 Lite | Clear |
| Deanta Pamplona | Yes | Glazed | See product page |
| Deanta Cadiz | Yes | No | None |
| LPD Tres 3 Panel | Yes | No | None |
| LPD Vancouver 5 Panel | Yes | No | None |
Solid walnut internal doors are the better choice for bedrooms, studies and bathrooms, where privacy and a little extra quiet matter. All except the LPD Vancouver have a solid core.
Glazed walnut internal doors
Glass breaks up a run of walnut internal doors and lets daylight reach a hallway. The Seville 1 Lite and the glazed Coventry list clear toughened glass, while the Deanta Kensington walnut 6 Lite uses clear bevelled panes for a more traditional look.
For a bathroom or cloakroom, the Coventry 4 Lite has obscure glass, so it lets light through without anyone seeing in.
Not all walnut glazed internal doors state their glass type, so check the product page if a pane sits low or the door is going near children. To compare glass in other finishes, see our glazed internal doors.
Walnut veneer or laminate?
Most walnut internal doors here are real timber. Deanta’s walnut veneer internal doors have a thin layer of walnut bonded to an engineered core, so the grain varies a little from door to door, and several are listed as FSC-certified. You’ll find the rest of their range on our Deanta brand page.
The LPD Tres also has a walnut veneer face. The LPD Vancouver 5 Panel is different: a printed walnut laminate on a semi-solid core, lighter and with a uniform pattern.
Both types arrive finished, so there’s no oiling or lacquering to do. If you’d like to compare other factory-finished timbers, our pre-finished internal doors cover oak, grey and black too.
Fitting and caring for walnut internal doors
Before ordering walnut internal doors, measure the frame opening and check whether your home uses imperial or metric sizes before you order.
Trimming allowances vary: the Deanta Coventry glazed and Cadiz, for example, allow up to 16mm off each side. After trimming, seal the cut edges with a clear finish so the core doesn’t take on moisture.
Deanta recommends three hinges for its solid-core designs, as they’re heavy. Matt black, brushed brass or satin stainless steel handles all suit walnut.
Day to day, a soft, slightly damp cloth is all the finish needs.
Walnut internal doors: your questions answered
Do walnut internal doors cost more?
Generally, yes. Walnut doors tend to cost more than oak or white primed equivalents because of the timber and the factory finish, and glass adds to the price. You’ll see the price of each size on its product page.
Is walnut still on trend?
Yes. Darker timber has come back into UK interiors, and walnut interior doors pair well with the warm neutrals, green tones and black fittings seen in many current schemes.
Are these real walnut?
The Deanta designs and the LPD Tres have a real walnut veneer. The LPD Vancouver is a walnut-effect laminate, and its product title says so.
Do prefinished walnut doors need any finishing?
No. Everything in this range arrives pre-finished. The only finishing job is sealing any edge you trim.
Which wall colours go with walnut?
White, off-white and soft greys on the walls let the timber stand out, and sage or olive greens pick up its warmth. Keep skirting and architrave either matching walnut or painted to suit the walls, rather than introducing a third wood tone.
Is there a walnut fire door?
Yes. Our FD30 walnut fire doors include fire-rated versions of the Seville, Coventry, Kensington, Pamplona and Cadiz, along with LPD designs and a Premdor walnut side-glazed door.
